1 Timothy 4:12 Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.
Growing up I always took hope from this verse. My parents taught me that I could do anything with God that I set my mind to. And although I knew that with God all things are possible, this world looks at our age and puts limitations on us. We’re too young to do that. Too old to do the other. We have to wait until we’re married, older, more educated, etc. Or our life is over now that all the kids are grown and out of the house. But this verse always reminded me that even though I may be young and not have a lot of experience I can always set an example for others. No matter what age I’m at I always want to remember that my walk with the Lord is the most important thing and through that I’m always setting an example. Don’t let false limitations control your life. Take back what you know to be yours and walk in what God has for you! Whether that’s a stage of learning and setting an example with patience and diligence, or a place of change where you can be graceful, or anything in between, YOU are in control of the examples you set!
Lord we thank you for the plans that you have for us and our ability to walk in them with strength and courage. Help us to have your discernment in every situation. To keep our eyes on you in knowledge and strength. To let no man despise us for our youth but to walk in confidence into good decisions, new ideas and new territory because you are our Father. We thank you for hope and wisdom with each new step we take. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
