Welcome to 30 Days of Hope. For the month of April 2020 we will create a blog post, and a podcast on this page daily pertaining to hope, written and recorded by many different people within Dawn of Hope.
Day Nineteen by Joanna Harrison
Verse: Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) – “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”
Word: Have you ever been stressed or anxious about your future? I know I have. When I was in high school and people started talking about college and what you’re doing after graduation I started to almost panic inside. I had no idea. I let the pressures of what other people expected drive me and decided to go to college for a degree I really didn’t care much about. But because I had been speaking this verse over my life I made the decision that God had placed before me. (Which was not a university by the way.) It wasn’t easy I can tell you that. It took me getting embarrassed a couple times trying to do my own thing but in the end, it was worth it. I know now more than ever that God’s plans for my life truly are good. And even if I mess up or make a mistake here and there, He’s got it. Today my fears of the future look a bit different then they did in high school but I can honestly say I still catch myself being anxious or fretful about how my life will look and what I should be doing. But now I know to catch those thoughts and replace them with the word of God. I know that I can look to God with hope and trust Him no matter what I may be feeling about it. I was listening to a teaching not long ago, I can’t remember who was speaking but I loved what they said about plans and purpose. They said that purpose is what we need to go after. The purpose that God created us for. There might be many different routes to get there (plans) but all will be good and get you to the same destination. So I encourage you not to stress about the how but to focus on the why. What is driving you to discover these paths laid out before you? What is the purpose God placed you here and now for? Ask Him.
Prayer: Father God, thank you for this beautiful day you’ve given me and the purpose you placed on my life. Help me to not stress about the how I’m getting to my destination but to focus on the why you have given me. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
