He is the Difference

Jeremiah 1:7, “But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak.” ESV

When I was fresh out of highschool, and got asked what I wanted to do in my life, I was always warry of sharing my dream; to be an inspirational speaker and writer. The reason I was warry, is because I knew that one thing speakers and writers need is an audience. But who would want to listen to the thoughts of a 19 year old girl? I figured I’d have to wait until I was at least 30 before I could actually start doing anything about it.

Then one day, I read Jeremiah 1:7, “But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak.” This gave me a hope that I did not have to wait and spend years, even decades, trying to become qualified in man’s, and my own eyes, to do what the Lord has called me to do. God is my qualification. He will send me to the right people and He will give me the words. My age is not a factor in His book. And that’s when God spoke to me saying, “What you lack in years, I will more than make up for.” I have the ageless One on my side. No matter what my age is, no matter what I lack in experience, no matter how inadequate I feel… God has called me to this and He will cover what I do not. He more than makes up the difference. He makes ALL the difference.

Since then, I have had many opportunities to speak. Every time I’ve stood up to do so, in myself, I’ve felt inadequate. But every time, God also made all the difference. There will always be something you feel inadequate in no matter what age you are. Always something you feel you need more time, more years, to be able to do. But no matter what it is, God more than makes up the difference.

Prayer: Lord I thank You that You make all the difference.
