Day Eighteen by Michael Roberts

Hebrews 11:39

And these all having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise

This verse is referring to the old testament saints that had great exploits and achievements, Hebrews 11 is often referred to the faith hall of fame. I want to share a story that gives a glimpse into my heart and what I feel when I read this verse. A 7 year old boy in the shop taking a piece of metal, antler from an elk, horn from an antelope, hide from a cow, and various tools and create a knife and knife sheath with his grandpa. An 8 year old boy taking wire mesh, clamps, and various tools and creating rabbit cages with his dad. A 10 year old boy taking a motor out of an old Buick and rebuilding it and putting it back in an old Chevrolet pickup with his dad. All three of these examples were me with my dad and grandpa, these examples set me on a path of being fascinated with the infinite possibilities of freedom and creativity. Each one of those examples looked IMPOSSIBLE to me! Now look through Hebrews 11 and notice Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham and Sara, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses’ parents, Moses, Joshua and Rahab, and many other heroes of faith, then, in verse 39, they received not the promise that we have! That fascinates me with the infinite possibilities! What looks IMPOSSIBLE that the promises of Christ Jesus strengthen us to the infinite possibilities?

Let’s pray,

Lord fascinate me with the infinite possibilities of the freedom you have given us through your promises in Christ Jesus! Thank you and I love you in Jesus name amen.
